Sight Words: We are learning new sight words each week. Please check your child's homework calendar to see their sight words for the week. (Please see the resource tab for a list of the sight words we will learn each week). Make sure you continue to review old sight words with your child as well.
Phonics: We are learning about prefixes and suffixes this week and how we can add them to a word to create a new word.
Reading: The students will be looking at various non-fiction texts and identifying the main idea and key details.
Writing: We are reviewing each genre of writing that we have learned this year: narrative, informational, how-to, and opinion. The students are currently working on including capitalization and punctuation in their writing.
Science: The students are learning about plants- how they grow and their different parts. We are focusing on comparing what is the same and different about two plants. The students are also beginning to learn about the Statue of Liberty.
Math: The students are reviewing the different math standards that we have learned this year. These include: counting, comparing numbers, addition and subtraction up to 10, word problems up to 10, positional words, composing larger shapes with small shapes, and comparing measurements.
